DRAGON PUPPET WORKSHOPS

I run regular dragon puppet workshops in East Sussex, usually for ages 9+ (no upper age limit).

Participants are encouraged to create their own dragon puppet in any style they like, from cute and friendly to futuristic, nature-based, cartoony, evil and anything in-between!

Adults stay and remain responsible for their young person - you can work as a team with your child if that works well for you.

We start with a blank cardboard base (provided) and add further shape and detail with cut cardboard, including creating interesting textures if desired, before painting with professional quality acrylic paint and/or embellishing with various materials. Previous embellishments have included a variety of interesting things such as feathers, textiles, metal chains, ping pong balls for eyes and LED lights! All materials are provided. Please wear messy clothes as acrylic paint can be difficult to get out.

The children are given space to explore and work on their own ideas with everything laid out for them to help themselves. There is minimal need for them to listen to instruction but I am on hand for help if needed. I normally do a short demonstration on a few techniques at the beginning of a session.

The main aim is that everyone has fun and feels supported to experiment!
